Columbus, Ohio — Custom Woodwork & CNC
Dovetail Bend is a one-person shop turning raw wood and CNC precision into things that last. Custom furniture, live edge builds, and routed work — made right.
Every slab, every board, every live edge cut has its own grain and its own history. Good work starts with reading that — not fighting it.
Dovetail Bend combines CNC routing precision with hands-on woodworking instinct. The goal is never "looks handmade." It's "looks exactly right."
One person. One shop. No corners cut. If a project isn't a good fit, you'll hear that too — before any money changes hands.
Custom Build · Full Bar
A full basement bar build — live edge walnut slab top paired with a shou sugi ban burned poplar base finished in linseed oil. Back bar in white cabinetry with open bottle shelving. The kind of piece people walk into and just stop talking for a second.
This shop is fully custom. There are no standard SKUs, no catalogue items, no pre-built options. Every single piece is a one-off. That's not a limitation — that's the entire point.
Got a sketch on a napkin? A reference photo? An idea you've been sitting on for two years because you didn't know who to call? That's exactly where to start. The first conversation is free, low-pressure, and often just a ten-minute chat.
You don't need measurements or a spec sheet to reach out. Rough ideas are welcome here. Use the AI Project Builder to sketch it out — or just send a message and we'll talk it through.
Dovetail Bend is a one-person custom woodworking and CNC shop based in Columbus, Ohio. The name comes from one of the oldest woodworking joints in the book — a joint so satisfying when it fits perfectly that you'll absolutely stand there and open and close a drawer just to hear the sound.
The shop focuses on custom builds, CNC routing, and made-to-order pieces — bars, furniture, signs, panels, and whatever weird project someone brings next. A rough sketch and a vague idea is genuinely enough to start a conversation.
No project is too strange. The weird ones honestly tend to be the best ones.
Every piece is built by hand (and by CNC, but someone is still running that thing), finished thoughtfully, and built to outlast the trend that inspired it. No flat-pack. No shortcuts. Good wood, good joinery, and an embarrassing amount of time spent on the finish.
Also: yes, the bar in the photos lives in a real basement. Yes, those are real beers on the shelves. And no, you cannot just come over. But you can commission something similarly ridiculous.
Precision-cut signs, panels, inlays, jigs, and custom profiles. Logos, dimensional lettering, decorative panels, one-off cuts — if it has a shape and fits on the bed, we can cut it.
Built-to-spec tables, bars, shelving, cabinetry, and accent pieces. Live edge work is a specialty. Hardwoods, pine, reclaimed material, shou sugi ban finishes — whatever the project calls for.
Got something weird in mind? A gift? A one-off piece? An idea that's mostly a napkin sketch? Perfect starting point. No minimum run, no standard size, no off-the-shelf answer. Just reach out.
Describe what you're thinking — or upload a reference image. The AI will ask questions, help you nail down dimensions and materials, and output a structured project brief you can send directly to the shop.
Custom project, idle question, or you just want to talk about wood grain for 45 minutes — all equally welcome.
